Sanxingdui Site is situated in a suburb of Guanghan City, Sichuan Province, 40km to the nothe of Chengdu, the provincial capital. Totaling 12 square kilometers in area, the site has been verified to contain some 30 cultural remnants dotted in the vicinity, including ruins of an ancient city, sacrificial pits, residential quarters and tombs. Scholars believe it should be dated somewhere between 4,800 and 2,800 years ago. So far, it is the largest and most ancient site left by an unknown culture in southwestern China. The archeological findings unearthed from it tell us it had been a highly developed hub of cultural prosperity in prehistoric China.
