The term cycle in music falls into the category of a large form of instrumental music composition，which refers not only to its scale but to the logic between its various elements. Composers have to have an overall structural consideration in their composing process. Sonata，full of logic thinking, is the first choice to compose with such a genre. The scale，whether large or small, and the logic between various musical elements as well，are the important factors of this form, which also reflects the technical proficiency level of the composer. Before the sonata form in the Western music history, there had been the cycle form during European polyphony period, i.e. fugue cycle. It is composed of an improvised prelude with bravura and a logic fugue with the thinking of variation. Different in character，the two are very close to each other in their musical material and tonality. These kinds of polyphonic cycle are often regarded as a large or middle form as reflected in piano composition.
