This story comes from Wudu, also in Hanfeizi. A farmer in the Dukedom of Song sees a rabbit crash into a tree, so he puts down his farming tools and waits for another rabbit to slam into the tree. The story describes someone who puts all his hopes on luck, without trying to do anything himself. It also describes someone who still follows fixed rules after situations have changed.
