The main theme of this book is to discuss the development of sy'stem identification and advanced control theory. This will be a novel data driven control strategy. During this book, the contributions, proposed by the author in these recent years, are given in details about the proposed theories and their applications in engineering field. As the research on system identification and some control strategies, such as model predictive control, adaptive control are very mature, so in this information area, especially it is time for identification for control, system identification is used to construct the mathematical model for the considered plant, being unknown. Based on this mission, we are thinking what we can extend system identification to construct the prediction output directly? Or to yield the expected closed loop controller from the measured input-output data. Then the identification for the unknown plant is neglected. For instance, the unknown controller is obtained from the measured data. It is lucky to have this thinking.
Firstly, based on our previous research on system identification theory, we find that lots of existing results from system identification theory can be applied to serve or solve our thinking. In this book, all contents are divided into two categories, one is corresponded to our recent research on system identification theory, the other is our applied system identification into some advanced control theory, then two data driven control strategies are generated. For the reason of convenience, whatever system identification and advanced control, we call them data driven estimation and data driven control, as they have one common property, for instance, lots of measured data are used to construct the mathematical model or closed loop controller.
