Chinese Massage Therapy (Tuina) employs seven parts to introduce the rudimentary knowledge, basic skills and clinical application of Chinese massage therapy. The first chapter briefs basic knowledge of Chinese massage therapy, covering the definition of Chinese massage therapy, the methods of learning Chinese massage therapy step by step, the position of taking Chinese massage therapy, massage beds and apparatuses, agent and cream commonly used for Chinese massage therapy, and hot compress used cooperatively with Chinese massage therapy. The second chapter introduces the 3000-plus-year development history of Chinese massage therapy. The third chapter introduces 20 kinds of basic massage skills that are most commonly used. The forth chapter introduces how the basic skills of Chinese massage therapy are applied on different parts of human body, which is a bridge course promoting the advancement from grasping basic skills to clinical application of Chinese massage, The fifth chapter is the overview of Chinese massage therapy, addressing the therapeutic action and principle, the indications and contraindications of Chinese massage therapy, as well as the treatment of abnormalities of Chinese massage therapy. The sixth chapter presents diverse theories of Chinese massage therapy by introducing how to treat 24 commonly seen illnesses with Chinese massage therapy. The seventh chapter makes a brief introduction of two Chinese massage exercises: 'muscle-bone strengthening exercise' and 'Shaolin exercises to benefit the internal organs'.
