About the Author
Joël Bellassen is the first Inspector General in the field of Chinese Language Teaching at the Ministry of Education (France), one of the vice-presidents of the International Chinese Language Teachers Association, a professor ofChineseatInstitut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales (France), and a sinologist. Dr. Bellassen is the first PhD supervisor in Chinese teaching methodology in Europe and the founder and first president of Association Fran?aise des Professeurs de Chinois. Mr. Bellassen is in charge of the design and revision of all Chinese teaching and testing syllabuses in France and the assessment and employment of Chinese teaching staff in France. He is the author or chief editor of more than 10 academic books, including Chinois: mode d’emploi, grammaire pratique et exercices, Les idéogrammes chinois, ou, L'empire du sens, Shuo zi jie ci, Le chinois recyclé, and over 60 articles. His A Key to Chinese Speech and Writing has become the most popular Chinese textbook in French universities since its publication in 1989.
