Grinding an Iron Pestle into a Needle is the second volume of Chinese fables. The idiom is used as a metaphor to say that no matter how difficult a thing is, as long as you work hard for a long time, you can succeed. It is also the equivalent of so long as you have put a great deal of effort, you can grind an iron rod into a needle.
