An Introduction to ChineseCulture for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages is based on thecharacteristics of international Chinese language teaching, and selects thegeneral knowledge of Chinese culture that teachers of Chinese should know,including 14 aspects of Chinese history, Chinese geography, Chinese philosophy,Chinese religion, social system of ancient China, Chinese literature, Chineseart, Chinese crafts, Chinese architecture and gardens, Chinese folklore,Chinese education and the imperial examination system, and so on. About the Author
Du Daoming, a professor and doctor supervisor at theChinese Culture Research Institute of Beijing Language and Culture University,serves as a director of the Chinese Association of Quyuan and a director of theAssociation for Yan Huang Culture of China, etc. He is mainly engaged inresearch on literary aesthetics, classical literature and Chinese culture.Professor Du has been invited to give lectures at the Department of Sinology ofthe University of Zurich, Switzerland, the Universidad San Francisco de Quito,Ecuador, and the Matsuyama University, Japan. He has published many monographs,including Taoism and Liberation, The Road to Harmony: China'sHarmonious Culture and Aesthetics, An Examination of Aesthetic Culturein Ancient China, and An Introduction to the Culture of Teaching Chineseas a Second Language and co-authored Introduction and Comment on Figuresin Wen Xin Diao Long and Appreciation and Analysis of Jiang Kui's Poetry.Meanwhile, he has published more than 70 academic papers in core journals athome and abroad.
