As a city and a center of industry and commerce for more than a hundred years, Shanghai has preserved several vintage residences. Among these famous buildings, there are villas of tycoons and politicians in the old Shanghai, as well as ex-residences of famous writers and political leaders, such as Lu Xun and Sun Zhongshan. All these buildings, in foreign style or Chinese style, are often connected to the persons once living there.
